Embedded Java Controller
Deurne, The Netherlands - SNIJDER Micro Systems announces their Embedded Java Controller (EJC), a visionary solution of embedded hardware and Java based software, designed to connect devices to the Internet or other TCP/IP based networks. Advanced Internet technology allows reliable remote access with a standard browser to devices anywhere in the world.
The EJC is a next step in embedded Internet connectivity, providing a complete answer to speed up development of enabled services. It features the power and flexibility of the Java programming language and servlet technology on a board the size of a credit card.
"Our Embedded Java Controller is the first product in a line that will relieve OEMs from the risky and time-consuming process of developing their own platform for embedded Internet applications", Nick Snijder (Managing Director of Snijder Micro Systems) said. "The EJC can shortcut the time-to-market of smart networking devices and enable developers to focus on their core applications. Snijder Micro Systems will continue to work on the EJC product line by adding useful tools and services to the software, extending it with specialized interface boards and developing new versions of the EJC, based on the latest developments in microprocessors and components. All of this will provide users a solid upgrade path, without spending time maintaining own platforms."
A starter and development kit is available for evaluation and demonstration of the features of the Embedded Java Controller. The starter kit contains an evaluation board with an 8MB flash version of the Embedded Java Controller running HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, Telnet services and is open to any PersonalJava application. Java classes, servlets, applets and html pages can be uploaded and hot deployed.
About the Embedded Java Controller:
The Embedded Java Controller's hardware offers an Ethernet based connection to the Internet and numerous interface possibilities to other equipment, including a local LCD or CRT screen, digital I/O, serial RS-232 ports and bus systems like RS-485 and I2C. The software includes a blisteringly fast Java Virtual Machine (JVM) on top of a fully object oriented RTOS and a set of services like a HTTP server, FTP client/server, SMTP client, POP3 client, Telnet server, etc. User extensions of the HTTP server can be done through Java servlet technology. The firmware can be remotely updated and EJC's software supports hot deployment of user applications over the Internet.
The EJC is a general purpose, PersonalJava compliant platform using open (Internet) technologies, industrial standards and frameworks and can be used by embedded system integrators or OEM's to push information on the web in many different applications and industries.
About Snijder Micro Systems:
