The EW1A module is the first realization of the EJC concept. The EW1A is a complete, easy to integrate single board computer in SO-DIMM size. The EW1A does not require any external parts.

The system is based on a high performance 32-bit ARM7 processor running at 24 MHz. It has 8 MBytes of flash and 8 MBytes of DRAM. Onboard interfaces like Ethernet, RS232, RS485, I2C, digital I/O, or local LCD display, and the ISA-style expansion bus, make this module ready for interconnection to a variety of devices, systems, or equipment.

By means of the I2C interface, the functionality of the EW1A can be expanded on chip level. Devices are available for digital I/O, analogue I/O, temperature monitoring, keyboard, LCD, and storage, among others. The ISA-style bus, available on the DIMM connector, can be used to expand the system with external hardware like a standard IDE hard disk, I/O bus controller, VGA controller, or additional memory.
